Yom Kippur 2012

Erev Yom Kippur, 5773 - September 25, 2012
Shalom u'vracha m'Yerushalayim!
(may peace find you complete and reach out from you in all directions)

Peace or Shalom
Ancient Hebrew Word Meanings
Peace ~ shalom
By Jeff A. Benner

When we hear the word peace we usually associate this to mean an absence of war or strife but, the Hebrew meaning of the word shalom has a very different meaning. The verb form of the root word is shalam and is usually used in the context of making restitution. When a person has caused another to become deficient in some way, such as a loss of livestock, it is the responsibility of the person who created the deficiency to restore what has been taken, lost or stolen. The verb shalam literally means to make whole or complete. The noun shalom has the more literal meaning of being in a state of wholeness or with no deficiency. The common phrase shalu shalom yerushalayim (pray for the peace of Jerusalem) is not speaking about an abcense of war (though that is part of it) but that Jerusalem (and by extension all of Israel) is complete and whole and goes far beyond the idea of "peace".

Preparing before Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur Tuesday evening, September 25, 2012 - Wednesday night, September 26, 2012 (Day of Atonement, the day of harmonizing the heavenly soul with the earthly flesh).

It's a time to take off all your old clothes and put on new clothes. In other words, no more blame or shame, love is the new gain, happiness bring us to the great circle, to receive the heavenly virtues of the blue road. Let us sing and dance all day, let joy lead the waves. Fire and Water, I shall purify, the holy smoke within me shall roar, I shall be righteous with loving rays, to bow to the will of God, the voice of all the children at the great circle of the ONE, the rings of bonds, the marriage to G_ah_d (utterance of heavenly transmission, in the winds). We are all relatives. We are all clowns (medicine people). We bring happiness to the world that needs to hear this sound.

Halachah (Jewish Law, the legal part of the Talmud, which should be oral, the songs upon high, the law is love that prescribes) prescribes the Mikyah Baths.

Sacred Song Blessings Sky of the Eternal: Twin Deer Mother Sings and Holiness David Father Red Hand Drums http://weblessyou.blogspot.com/2012/09/sky-of-eternal.html

excerpt: Impunity is the exemption from punishment, penalty or harm. This is what happens with the cleansing colors. The golden child, our Cosmic Father cleanses the inner soul songs, the heavenly fields. The lavender child, our Holiness cleanses the outer physical colors, the fields of earth. This is done automatically, without consent, but freely gifted happily. It is a time of rejoicing, when we can walk into brotherhood with the holy and divine beings we are to become, those who can share the great dream together. The kingdom is near.

Mother Earth's natural bodies of water -- its oceans, rivers, wells, clouds and spring-fed lakes -- are mikvahs in their most primal form, our tears that fell, like stars from heaven. They contain waters of divine source and thus, tradition teaches, the power to purify. Mikvahs are baths where one is baptized between yourself and God's unity, a holy purification to cleanse within the waters. The baths are joined together. One is usually filled with collection of rain water (stillness). And the other with running water (movement). The two baths are next to each other and an opening of 2 inches is left open for the waters to mingle. This place is represents the blue waters of song, the heavenly soul and the red fire of color, the earthly flesh (song and dance). When a circle is twisted, someone is backwards and someone is forwards, but still a circle. This holy divine is the figure 8, representing the eagle that flies free and the holy and divine in each child, like you. Often this is referred to as the infinity symbol. These two parts, the unseen of heavenly virtues and the seen of earthly virtues, join together to mingle in the rites of purification. To cleanse one self is now a daily measure, as we learn to understand the values of purification. We take our blessings seriously, because learning and practicing together, brings us to the great blue seas of you and me, relatives of 12 tribes, eternal and bliss, the Rainbow Clan.

Immersion in a Mikvah

It is a widely accepted custom for all men to immerse in a mikvah (ritual pool) on the day before Yom Kippur. In certain communities, women also immerse in a mikvah on this day.
There are two reasons for this immersion:
  1. In order to be ritually pure in preparation for the holiest day of the year.
  2. The immersion is symbolic of conversion. Just as a convert immerses in a mikvah and thus becomes a "new person," so, too, it is our intention to do teshuvah (repentance) and become new people.

Mikveh: Sacred, Sensual Gray Waters Far From Green by Tinamarie Bernard

The first time I entered into the mikveh, it felt as if my body was suspended in something extraordinary, primordial fluid, if you will. Every sense awoke. The water felt warm against my skin, like a comforting caress, and the gentle lapping sounds echoed against the walls and whooshed in my ears. Time became irrelevant when I held my breath, opened my eyes, and submitted to the experience.

It is with total reference when we say that Judaism’s ancient ritual – mikveh immersion – is both sacred and intimate, a rejuvenation of the heart, soul and body. Read more http://www.greenprophet.com/2010/05/mikveh-sensual-water-green/

Before Yom Kippur we perform the Kaparot atonement service; we request and receive honey cake, in acknowledgement that we are all recipients in G-d's world and in prayerful hope for a sweet and abundant year; eat a festive meal; immerse in a mikvah; and give extra charity. Late afternoon we eat the pre-fast meal, following which we bless our children, light a memorial candle as well as the holiday candles, and go to the synagogue for Kol Nidrei services.

In the course of Yom Kippur we hold five prayer services: Maariv, with its solemn Kol Nidrei service, on the eve of Yom Kippur; Shacharit--the morning prayer, which includes the reading from Leviticus followed by the yizkor memorial service; Musaf, which includes a detailed account of the Yom Kippur Temple service; Minchah, which includes the reading of the Book of Jonah; and Neilah, the "closing of the gates" service at sunset. We say the Al Chet confession of sins eight times in the course of Yom Kippur, and recite Psalms every available moment.

The day is the most solemn of the year, yet an undertone of joy suffuses it: a joy that revels in the spirituality of the day and expresses the confidence that G-d will accept our repentance, forgive our sins, and seal our verdict for a year of life, health and happiness. The closing Neilah service climaxes in the resounding cries of "Hear O Israel... G-d is one." Then joy erupts in song and dance (a Chabad custom is to sing the lively "Napoleon's March"), followed by a single blast of the shofar, followed by the proclamation, "Next year in Jerusalem." We then partake of a festive after-fast meal, making the evening after Yom Kippur a Yom Tov (festival) in its own right.   Chabad.org

What is Yom Kippur?

Yom Kippur or Day of Attonement (harmonizing the divine talk to the divine walk) is considered the holiest day of the year. The day on which we are closest to G_ah_d (utterance of heavenly transmission) and to the glory of our own souls. Fasting and atonement (harmony, united soul to flesh, talk and walk), solemnity and joy...are the virtues to express the holy day of cleansing of our sacred hearts. We are divine beings and bring happiness to those we encounter, when they can receive the great blessings of God's (g_d, no heaven, yet heaven is arriving, prepare, it is now, GOD or GAHD) divine oneness, we are together, a streaming weather.
Refresh your soul, offer blessings for heavenly tears!

Sow put on your dancing shoes and grab a partner or find a neighbor or traveler and enjoy time together, in holy preparation of the sacred soul that rejoices in bringing the child within (talking), into the world (walking). Share the good news of cleansing one's heart, to prepare the prayers of divine consciousness and gather in the great dream together on this world we will fallow (rest) in the whether.

We are forgiven always in the heavenly viewpoint. It is an earthly viewpoint that man would need forgiveness. To forgive and be forgiven, is a heavenly virtue. But learning how to live this way is not an easy task to undertake.

"You are supposed to live everyday out of sin, trying to be out of sin, by practicing God's law, of every moment of every day." says Holiness David our Father Red Hand.

Yom Kippur or Day of Attonement (harmonizing the divine talk to the divine walk) is considered the holiest day of the year. Leviticus 16
29 And it shall be a statute for ever unto you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict* your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the home-born, or the stranger that sojourneth among you.
30 For on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins shall ye be clean before the LORD.
* afflict: "Rejoice, release your afflictions, abstain and live in peace". Twin Deer Mother

"Then it's up to the sinner to improve himself and become worthy of God's forgiveness. Only through personal repentance and self cleansing can a person "be cleansed of all his sins before God".

Verses 29-34 Commentary within the Stone Edition of the Chumach. It continues...

The eternal commandment of Yom Kippur: having completed the Yom Kippur Ritual, the Torah states that the commandment to observe Yom Kippur is an annual one and that in addition to the Temple Service which has been the sole focus of the Chapter up to this point, there are additional commandments to fast and refrain from work. 29. The explanation of "you shall afflict yourself": the sages expound that the expression "afflict" refers only to abstention from food and drink. Whereever scripture associates "self", with "affliction", it refers to fasting. This is how the sages derive that our verse requires fasting rather than some other form of affliction. It is noteworthy that, in giving the laws of Yom Kippur, Rambam does not speak of fasting of affliction. Rather he writes: there is a further positive commandment on Yom Kippur. It is to rest from eating and drinking. It is forbidden to bath, to apply oil to the body, to wear shoes or to cohabit (sexual relations). It is a positive commandment to rest from all of these, just as it is commanded to rest from eating. Rambam's choice of words is significant. He states that on Yom Kippur, one "rest" from the listed activities which indicates that the purpose of fasting is not that one should suffer, but that that he should transcend the normal human limitations that prevent him from functioning properly unless he eats. On Yom Kippur a Jew (oldest children of the rainbow clan who is ordained to teach the younger children these laws of cleansing and purification rituals) is like an Angel who serves God without need for food*. In the Yom Kippur, it proclaims that repentance is one of the means of deflecting evil decrees. The implications is plain: fasting is it's greatest value when associated with repentance, and the purpose of the fast is to elevate Jews, not to cause them physical deprivation.

* "An Angel would give up what she has for another, as a Mother would give up her soul, to gift the rainbow, the dreams for all her children. In actuality, the Rainbow Mother gifts to us each a soul, a bit of heavenly virtues by teaching us how to roll over those lessons (stepping stones) and  prepare us to get ready for the birthing of the SUN, SHAVAH, the inner sun of a divine shard of lights, rainbow colors shine. These 12 Sun Tribes known as the Jewish People, represent the Rainbow Clan and it's story of the streaming on the red road, where the law is love and their role in leading us towards this law, the practice of purification depends on the holiest of thou, those who bow. It is written to show honor to thine Mother and Father and to learn from their mistakes. We forgive them, because in this practice we are allowed to make our own mistakes, our own lessons, our own path to discovery. And as each new generation appears, evolution lifts us higher into our collective consciousness. You are all children of the Rainbow Clan, for we each wear the four directions in rainbow colors. Many in Israel throw Roosters in the air, unknowingly, representing the weather vane, the turning of the winds, where four directions guide us homeward, bound together, in all the whethers. It's love that keeps us afloat, the heart with the most. We bow with the Rainbow Clan, all our relatives of heaven and earth. "I bless the sacred nine streams and the four holy directions." Twin Deer Mother

Verse 31 commentary
A Sabbath of Complete Rest. Unlike festivals, when a preparation of food and related work is permitted, all labor is forbidden on Yom Kippur. The Torah describes the other festivals as a day of rest, while it calls Yom Kippur a Sabbath of Complete Rest.

"This is a day we attempt not to kill anything for foods (stones, plants, animals) to bring peace upon our hearts and to receive all the streaming light from the sunrise and the sunset. This will be our nourishment, each other, the relatives of the rainbows. To be still and receive on the blue road. the soul sings divine, while serving the Oneness of God. We are the ark of the covenant, the promise of the Rainbow and all it's treasures shall be known, when the brotherhood is sown." Twin Deer Mother continues."I cry each time I cut into a plant, all things feel. For one holy day (annual migration) of rest and rejoicing brings us to the whole of the wheel, the dreaming that is real, the tears that bring us home to the strong and gallant, the tears of joy on returning to our heavenly consciousness, where our eternal souls are birthed again in the streaming of the born child, the pureness of your smile. Tears roll down, for all the children. It will take a while. Bless and pray, we are on our way. We are on our way, heaven is on her wings. We are on our way! Let the tears remind us of the heavenly true blue, the streaming four corners that hold us close like glue, to the heavenly truth."

"Upon the front of the sails, the winds blow across your face, I bless your prayer cloth where ever you may bow." Twin Deer Mother

Today sunrise 6:59am and sunset 6:59pm was equally the same, 24 hours complete. An auspicious day for Yom Kippur to begin, the holiest of day each year. Tonight sunset 7:02 (several minutes before sunset on Tishrei 9) to next sunset 7:00pm  (to after nightfall on Tishrei 10), we abstain from food and drink. We do not wash or anoint our bodies nor do we wear animal skin on our feet. Thus we show honor to all our relatives. During a time of a great migration, finding water is not always easy. We must be prepared to live without water, in a time of great need and create bountiful tears for the world to grow. During our trials and tribulations, what is called affliction of our souls, is to be cleansed and purified to elated joy and glory filled eyes. Let our tears wash us clean and gift to us rebirthing of our souls in the peace filled darkness of heavenly bliss. Peace be with us.

Leviticus Chapter 16

א  וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה, אֶל-מֹשֶׁה, אַחֲרֵי מוֹת, שְׁנֵי בְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן--בְּקָרְבָתָם לִפְנֵי-יְהוָה, וַיָּמֻתוּ. 1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before the LORD, and died;
2 and the LORD said unto Moses: 'Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil, before the ark-cover which is upon the ark; that he die not; for I appear in the cloud upon the ark-cover.
3 Herewith shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering.
4 He shall put on the holy linen tunic, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with the linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired; they are the holy garments; and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and put them on.
5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two he-goats for a sin-offering, and one ram for a burnt-offering.
6 And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself, and for his house.
7 And he shall take the two goats, and set them before the LORD at the door of the tent of meeting.
8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats: one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for Azazel.
9 And Aaron shall present the goat upon which the lot fell for the LORD, and offer him for a sin-offering.
10 But the goat, on which the lot fell for Azazel, shall be set alive before the LORD, to make atonement over him, to send him away for Azazel into the wilderness.
11 And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin-offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin-offering which is for himself.
12 And he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil.
13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the ark-cover that is upon the testimony, that he die not.
14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the ark-cover on the east; and before the ark-cover shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.
15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin-offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the ark-cover, and before the ark-cover.
16 And he shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleannesses of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so shall he do for the tent of meeting, that dwelleth with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.
17 And there shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goeth in to make atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.
18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleannesses of the children of Israel.
20 And when he hath made an end of atoning for the holy place, and the tent of meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat.
21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of an appointed man into the wilderness.
22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land which is cut off; and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
23 And Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there.

Eighth Day (of Eight Days) of Miracles: The Festival of Lights, called Chanukah

Crystal-Indigo-children.blogspot.gifOn Tue, Dec 27, 2011 at 11:57 PM, White Buffalo Calf Woman, your Twin Deer Mother wrote:

Relatives of the Rainbow,

Hanukkah ends with the eighth day today at morning's light (darkness ends). Remember eight is the sacred walk of holiness, the path to trusting love (eternity symbol) and it's embracing for each other. We shine our inner light, to find the river of fire, within each of us, we stand here (the ninth direction), between from rainbow colors outside and four rainbow colors inside.

Religions all over the the world share part of the story of Oneness, Jews happen to be the oldest of the flesh, where intelligence leads on the red road. They go towards heaven to shine like a star in heaven to find the blue road, returning once more into the bliss of faithful devotion. We must remember, all the world carries stories of the Oneness. As the ordained people (Jews on the eastern shore of the horizon), who teach us God's laws as we walk upon the earthly world. However there is only one true law, LOVE. This law rules and reigns above all others. Through the trusting of one's heart, we remember our soul within, that guides us, remembering that we are all relatives of the deep blue of heavenly stars. This is written in the prayer cloth with the blue strand of the fringes at each corner.

The festival of lights help us to remember miracles can live in each day if we have faith and trust in forgiveness and have hope for tomorrows dreaming. We leap into evolution with our hearts seeking brotherhood and only through the actions that gift to us miracles, can we find the true path of our hearts.
Today we pray and offer each relative praise in the hopes they find the blue road, the star that shines, the soul within once again. Here inside of you, lies the perfect revelation, eternal knowledge through the songs, we find our way, into everlasting life. Now more than ever it's imperative we attend to the salvation of our hopes and dreams to endure and find our path to eternal life, we know as our souls.

The blue road of the heavenly song leads us towards the perfect unity of waters (blue road of the soul) and fires (red road of the flesh). Here the sacred mix becomes smoke, clouds and an atmospheric embrace, we call home, the blue of Mother Earth, where the lights bring to us a garden of paradise. Here is the TREE of LIFE that extends upwards and downwards to bind us together.

Let us sing this day, forever pave the way to eternal love and guidance that can bring, to us hope and dreams that fill us with everything, it's the place we need to know our waves. Help our souls relieve, the song that helps us grieve and bring our tears to shine upon the world. And through our love this day, it will pave the way into ever more, the song of what we need.

We bow down to say, we love you all the ways, to shine of light from within that guides the plates, the platters to/of yesterday, they roll around to say, we return to lift the waves again. Let us move down the path, to where it's dark at last, the blue road of heavenly stars that shine from within.

White Buffalo Calf Woman sings (christal child, peace) and Holiness David Running Eagle Shooting Star shines, love that binds (lavender child, holiness). House of David, where the Beloved Children find passageway through the house of winds!

ps. On Christmas day, we had gas to run our generator for four hours, but it ran for 10 hours. We thank Great Spirit Father River of the Blue for his great miracle. Each day, we shared a miracle. But with so little, we have so much and LOVE is what we beget, abundance of overflowing LOVE.

Last day of Chanukah

The last day of Chanukah marks the end of Chanukah, also known as Hanukkah or Festival of Lights. Chanukah is an eight-day Jewish observance that remembers the Jewish people's struggle for religious freedom.

What do people do?

The last day of Chanukah is the eighth day of Chanukah. It is known as Zose Chanukah, Zos Chanukah or Zot Chanukah.  It marks the day on which the great miracle of oil occurred, according to Jewish belief. It is a particularly special day because it encapsulates all of Chanukah.
Jewish communities worldwide celebrate Chanukah between the 25th day of the month of Kislev to the second day of the month of Tevet in the Hebrew calendar. Many Jewish people lighting a special Hanukkah menorah, a candelabrum with holders for eight candles, one for each day of celebration, plus a ninth, the shammash or “server”, used to light the others during Chanukah. One candle is lit on the first night, two on the second, three on the third, through to the eighth night when all are lit.

A special prayer is recited during the lighting and while the candles burn it is a time for songs and games, including the four-sided toy called dreidel. Other customs include gift-giving, especially to children, and decorating the home.

Public life

The last day of Chanukah is not a public holiday in Israel but it is the school holiday period. This event is also not a public holiday in countries such as Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. Some Jewish schools in these countries and other countries have a vacation period that coincides with Chanukah.

Background

Chanukah commemorates the successful rebellion of the Jewish people against the Syrians in the Maccabean War of 162 BCE, but the military associations of this festival are played down. What is really being celebrated is the survival of Judaism. After the Jewish people's victory they ritually cleansed and rededicated the Temple, then re-lit the menorah or “perpetual lamp”; hence one of the other names for this celebration, the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah means “dedication” in Hebrew).
The story is told that although there was only enough consecrated oil to keep the lamp burning for one day and it would take eight days to get more, the small bottle of oil miraculously lasted for the entire eight days. It is for this reason that Hanukkah is also known as the Feast of Lights.

Symbols

The eight-branched Chanukah menorah, or candle holder, is an important element that symbolizes the tradition of Chanukah. It relates well with why the holiday is called “the festival of lights”. The menorah is lit from the left side to the right and people say blessings when the menorah is lit. There are many different styles of the menorah – in many cases the ninth holder, known as the shammash (helper candle), is in the middle or to the left side.

The dreidel is a popular toy symbolizing the Chanukah period. It is a spinning top with a different Hebrew letter inscribed in each of its four sides – the four letters form an acronym meaning “a great miracle happened here”. Some popular songs associated with Chanukah in English-speaking countries include “Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel” and “Chanukah, Oh Chanukah”. Some songs in Israel include "Hanukkiah Li Yesh" ("I Have a Hanukkah Menora"), "Kad Katan" ("A Small Jug"), and "S'vivon Sov Sov Sov" ("Dreidel, Spin and Spin"). http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/jewish/last-day-chanukah

The Miracle of the Eighth Day
(A Hanukkah Sermon)

by Jan Vickery Knost

Text: "And they celebrated the rededication of the altar for eight days. And offered burnt offerings with joy and offered a sacrifice of deliverance and praise."
The Apocrypha, 1st Book of Macabees

The Jewish Festival of Hanukkah comes so near Christmas that people want to merge its meaning with the various festivals of light that occur around the same time in the Christian calendar. Notwithstanding the wish for ecumenism, it would be a mistake for us to do so. Truth to tell, the sun does sink lower in the skies each day as we approach the Solstice; it does prompt people to find ways to hope for the sun to return to its zenith. But to mix Hanukkah's celebration with the Solstice, Christmas or Ramadan would be to miss its true meaning.

Hanukkah is a celebration of religious freedom. It commemorates the renewal and the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem in the year 165 B.C.E.,. three years to the day after it had been profaned by the Syrian King, Antiochus Epiphanes. (IV) His purpose in desecrating that sacred altar was to insult the Jews and drive them into submission.

Let me relate the story again. Antiochus was known to his friends as "Zeus Manifest". He was a dictator. He wanted to bring Greek values to the Jews. He had already accomplished this in other parts of the world. Although he did not care about the religious practices of his peoples, he did insist that they worship the Greek god, Zeus. For the Jewish people he added other demands.

After waging war and finally conquering Jerusalem, Antiochus took firm control. First he sold the position of High Priest of the Temple to the highest bidder. When riots broke out the army was brought in to kill and plunder. The King then made the temple a place no Jew would enter by making it permissable for worshipers to sacrifice swine in praise of the Greek god, Zeus. They were also forced to eat that same meat forbidden by the Jewish Torah. Finally, Jews were forbidden to practice of circumcizing male children.

When the members of the Jewish community condemned the King's action as an abomination, he OUTLAWED the practice of Judaism, a crime punishable by death.

This is what happens when a tyrant does what he or she wishes. It's gone on down through history and it's not nice. On with our story.

In a town near Jerusalem, a Syrian officer demanded that the Jews there make the mandated sacrifice to Zeus. A village priest named Mattathais refused. He killed the officer and fled to the hills. Mattathais died an outcast in the same year of 165 B.C. But his son, Judas Maccabeus, (Who was nicknamed "The Hammer") gathered a band of rebels and began what history has come to call "The Maccabean Revolt". He defeated the general appointed by Antiochus and forced a treaty of peace. Then, on the 25th day of the month of Kislev (Which we know as the month of December), Judas rebuilt the altar of the Temple. He restored it with a Rededication and a Feast of Lights which we call......Hanukkah.

Ever since that time Jews the world over remember that occasion as a reminder of the privilege of being able to practice religious freedom. The Menorah (which holds the candles) is a symbol of the kindling of the light for eight days. And, as we have heard, the ninth candle commemorates the miracle that at the time that the celebration of eight days was ordered, only enough oil was on hand to burn for one night. Miraculously the oil lasted the entire eight days of commemoration, thus the eight blue and white candles.

Now here's what Paul Harvey calls "the rest of the story". The last days of the festival have special importance. In a book titled Jewish Days, Francine Klagsbrun gives us an insight that is a wonderful theme. Hanukkah came to be a festival that was of special importance to women.

Some Jews dedicate the eighth day of Hanukkah to a figure in the story named Judith. Legend has it that she had more courage than all the men in her town. An Apocryphal story apparently written during the Maccabean era - but set in a time centuries earlier - involved the Assyrians. King Nebuchadnezzar sent his general to conquer Judea.

Of course the Jews resisted. So he lays seige to the town. And just when the people are about to surrender, Judith steps forward. She goes to the enemy camp. There she beguiles the general into believing that she can pray to Yahweh and help the general and his troops to subdue Judea. She stays three days, leaving each night to pray. This makes the guards accustomed to her departures.

On the fourth day, the general invites her to a banquet. Since he plans to seduce her, he dismisses his servants. When he is finally drunk and asleep, Judith takes his sword . . . and hacks off his head. With the head in a sack she returns to her home and when the Assyrian army finds its general decapitated, it flees in confusion. Israel wins a great victory and Judith leads the people in dancing and singing praise to Yahweh for defeating the enemy "at the hands of a woman." (Judith 16:6)

The second admirable Biblical theme is about Hannah, daughter of Mattathias and sister of Maccabeus. The Syrians decreed that all Jewish brides must spend their wedding nights with local rulers who raped and shamed them. In rebellion at her wedding feast, Hannah stripped naked before all the guests. When her brother sought to kill her for her wantonness, she demanded that they take up arms against the Syrians to save the honor of all Jewish women. According to the legend, it was Hannah's action which sparked the Maccabean Revolt.

Finally, there is the story of Miriam. It is hard to believe that she is remembered because it was Miriam who encouraged her seven sons to die for their faith. Seven sons. But die they did when they refused to eat pork. Antiochus's men tortured and killed each one of them for this. It is written that when the youngest son's turn came, the King urged his mother, Miriam, to persuade the boy to save himself. Instead she pressed him to follow his brothers' example. Kissing him she whispered, "Say to Father Abraham, `Do not pride yourself on having built an altar and offered up your son Isaac. Our mother built seven altars and offered up seven sons in one day. Yours was only a test but hers was real." With her sons gone, Miriam died, as well. In the Apocryphal Book of Maccabees she is blessed as one "who deserves to be remembered with special honor."

These are only a few themes that are linked with the season of Hanukkah. We need to remember that the faith journey that brought liberal religion to the fore had its roots not only in the Protestant Christian tradition, but in the Judaic tradition, too. So when we celebrate and guard religious freedom we need to remember how Hanukkah serves to remind us of others who fought for it two thousand years before us. So, too, with our sisters and brothers of the Counter-Reformation which began in the 1500's.

So you see, it is not difficult to appreciate some of the more positive elements emerging out of the Judaic tradition. Art, music, poetry, literature, drama and sacrifice were themes lived again and again by our spiritual neighbors of the past.

Today we are free to doubt; to question; to argue; to resist. We recognize no ecclesiastical hierarchy that tells us to do or believe this or that regarding our religious faith. And if we look into Scripture we can find similar parallels written in an effort to describe and to understand the religious aspect of the human condition.

There is no doubt that the troubled times we are in give us no measure of quiet when the Middle East seethes with hatred, vengeance and retaliation. It is not unlike the time when sincere but misguided Christians went to the Holy Land during the Crusades in order to rid the world of the pestilence that threatened Christianity's authority. The politics of the day notwithstanding, I would urge you to accentuate the positive about the season of Hanukkah. Permit it to be another way of remembering how our spiritual mothers and fathers won religious freedom in New England in that time of theocratic autocracy in this free land. Let us remember. Let us remember - with gratitude.

I would close this venture with some lines of poetry written by my friend and colleague, the Rev. Anthony F. Perrino:

I am the Hanukkah-Christmas Spirit
That comes with the month of December:
A winter-solstice spell, perhaps,
When people forget to remember--

The drab realities of fact,
The cherished hurt of ancient wrongs,
The lonely comfort of being deaf
To human sighs and angels' songs.

Suddenly, they lose their minds
To heart's demands and beauty's grace;
And deeds extravagant with love
Give glory to the commonplace.

Amen.

(donate to the) HOUSE OF DAVID a response to JEWS of the Chabad

Greetings Chabad Hasidism and Relatives of the Lights,
Man is learning to be kind, but gifting is not one of their strong suit. This is the House of David, White Buffalo Calf Woman your Twin Deer Mother and Holiness David Running Eagle Shooting Star your Father Red Hand.

WE gift to the world every day, but there is no one in the world who can answer questions like we can. We are the living prophecy, the world has been waiting for. We carry the arc of the covenant, the rainbow promise and back this up with mathematical calculations that prove all we share. And it's the Jews who share inherit this knowledge when it is given to those of pure hearts, those true to the Covenant. I (White Buffalo Calf Woman, christal child, only one color of the rainbow clan) am here to answer all the questions people ask. We gift everything away for free, but only need people to ask their questions. We are here to share, but the value of gifting is not noticed by those who think value is something you pay for. We know the greatest gifts are freely given. The difference between us, is that you pay for even the Jews to help out around there, instead of them giving freely. WE are sorry that you are not recognized for your great attributions, but suffering is what we do/dew/cling to, when we share love with the world.

The prophecies are coming true, yet few look for answers in these trying times. The red calf and the white calves are born, yet people do not look for those who come to cleave to the Oneness of God.

Recently we received Jewish hate crimes, because we live on the streets with the Star of David shown on our Motorhome, helping all we can who come our way, locally on foot traffic (knock on our door) and world wide via the internet (knock on our email). We gather on the hoops (elliptical orbital path, relativity) with Rainbow Warriors of Prophecy. We went to the local Jewish center and this is how I was treated.

First and foremost the building was locked and we had to go through an armed guard to get in. The building was a newly built Housing Complex that houses many Jews and their families. We even met a man who was a former neighbor. Who he himself, would not gift an old TV antennae, when we were neighbors many years ago, he wanted $40.00 for it. Holiness David refused for that price we could have gotten one brand new, but he did not know how to give-a-way. So instead he put it in the trash instead of giving it away to his neighbor, the real JEW, the House of David.  He had a Jewish Name, and thought he was a Jew, but in fact he was not Jewish at all, not even by lineage or any other way, as many claim to be, the ordained JEWs. Yet he had a job at the new Jewish center. When I was there, I was seeking help locally regarding the hate crimes we were receiving. What people did, about nine or so of them, is when they walked by me, asked me if I had been helped, then walked away. But the person who I was waiting for, just left me there to wait. In other words, I was given lip service and not one person actually helped me. In fact, I didn't see one actual Jew (12 sun lineage present). All had paid jobs. All who were there, were there only for a pay check or paid a fee to be there for housing. No one actually cared about each other.

I had to pray, cry and walk away (because none clung to us with love), from still more suffering even with so much abundance around, because the sadness overwhelmed them. I had to purify the entire arena milieu (protected even by guards, who had not a clue how to protect space, through prayers). Jews are still not forgiving, nor are they really helping each other out in times of need. Today, Holiness David found an article about a world class violinist who spent a few hours playing a 3 million dollar violin freely to the Washington D.C. Metro Subway station. Not one person stopped to listen to him (except children who were dragged away) and he received $32.00 in his open container of donations. Yet he recently played for $100.00 a seat, for a great venue. When he gave it away, it had no value to the people. But when he sold his gifts, he made millions. This is the unfortunate times we live in.

From 2004 to this year 2011 we received four thousand dollars in donations (most given to us by Grandmother Comfort in the Wind and her family, we are able to have some food this year), and that's way below poverty in USA and especially the San Francisco Bay Area (anyone try living on this in the USA, you simply can't). We have little or no food, clothes, water, heat, electricity or safety (police even gift to us hate and discrimination, which is against the law, but little has changed), even when there is a large Jewish Center with great abundance only one block away. We don't even have candles for the Menorah. But because Jews tend to break every law conceivable (they have not forgiven), we know they are not sharing the hearts of man or bringing the laws of God to mankind, but instead walk in separation, rather than in unity. We the House of David (beloved children of the rainbow) celebrate the miracle each and every day. Our abundance relies on LOVE, the LAW.

Chabad says they use only 2% for administrative fees, but from what kind of budget. There is so much hidden. Much forgiveness is needed to be shared together for each other. We will spend another Holiday without fuel, clothing, maybe not even lights (electricity) or even food, because giving away is not the nature of man, but is the nature of heaven. Heaven is on it's way, in a big wave and prophecy is alive, to those who listen to all that lies upon our hearts, our feelings that enlighten us or doom us. We bow to the world and pray the humble hearts will hear our call, for it's time, for true brotherhood to reign.

Chabad gives away knowledge freely and abundantly and thus, you find yourself, without in times of need. These times will continue, because prophecy is living and coming forth. The whole break down of money is about to be shown to the world. Yet, we all deny our own hearts as well as the prophecies and we do not heal our very neighbors, whom we have been waiting for a millennium; brotherhood. This is the House of David (beloved children of the rainbow clan, the house of winds stand), who gift away, all knowledge freely to those who come to receive. Yet few can receive all knowledge when it's given freely and without a fee. We sing the songs that live in the winds, know answers that only the ark of the covenant can share, for the next phase of evolution.

I share this letter with you today, to show you, there is a new way, brotherhood. But learning to shift from money to the golden coin of brotherhood and the great give-a-way, is not known as of yet. I even wonder if anyone will read this email, two persons will, but it will be shuffled away, instead of passed on. However I will be posting this as a blog and it will be shared world wide with others who can receive. How do I know these answers, because I asked and received the answers. I read all the book of life/s, for each being seen or unseen and this frightens people, when they have so much to hide from (their sins). I am a christal child (White Buffalo Calf Woman), the house of David, who brings the greatest gifts freely to the world (the arc/ark of the covenant), which the Jews will someday, carry and teach the world over.

Here is what we can offer, answers for those who ask at Chabad.Org. Interpretations to ceremonies, traditions and meanings to all that is known. For what is sown, has been lost in translations and in here-say (heresy). We know that you have tried to share, what knowledge there is around our times to the people world wide who are able to receive from you. This can help you, as more and more come because of this living prophecy. But it's up to you to cling to true brotherhood. We will await to hear from our relatives.

Here is an example of a blog posted, Happy Hanukkah 2011.
http://houseofthebeloved.blogspot.com/2011/12/happy-hanukkah-2011.html

WE have interpreted the meaning of the Dridel and the Menorah. This is part of the blog posting.

White Buffalo Calf Woman interprets
(the menorah seven lights of the oil lamp and channukiah for the nine candle candelabrum)
7 seven days of light (a realm, violet, mountain top, all around), then one day sown, the eight 8th day, holiness/wakan (lavender, gate into paradise, love), when there was a storm and yet (faith and love led us through), the 9 ninth candle is known (magenta), where the light shows is blown (blowing, sowing, the greatest light show), the rainbow bridge is grown (all the rainbow clan flowing). We bless the sacred nine directions, we bow to the horn (ring free brotherhood and all the trees of life). Let our voices be known. We are one family, one beloved rite (here/hear we stand), one house of Judah (house of winds), that lead the entire house (all of the beloved leaves on the united tree of life).

(note: In commemoration of this event Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days and a candle is lit on the hanukkiyah on each of those days. One candle is lit the first night, two the second, and so on, until the final night when all the candles are lit. Each of the eight candles is lit with a “helper” candle known as the shamash. The shamash is lit first, is used to light the other candles, and then is returned to the ninth candle spot, which is set apart from the others. "Here I stand uniting heaven with earth, through dance and song, the great caretaker, the magenta color/child, the rainbow bridge dances along. "Shammes" (in Yiddish) or "Shamash" (in Hebrew) Here is the helper who grinds the song and dance, to bring us towards the lights of the realm." White Buffalo Calf Woman sings Rainbow clan cleaves to the covenant upon this land, let the lights shine a miracle is real, for God-brotherhood does heal.)

We have added the Chabad.Org Holiday Alert at the bottom of the blog post to assist in spreading the word of Judaism. But it will take a dedicated person of the soul, who wants profound change to occur in the world. What we say, carries great weight around the world. What God gifts is abundantly sure. It is already written in our hearts. If we continue to deny prophecy, the lights of the menorah will carry no meaning to the entire world. The story only speaks of eight candles, yet, there are nine candles. We trust our hearts, but don't understand the meaning of our own heart. The Ninth candle represents the flowing of the rainbow colors that are showing, where we stand upon that hill, we praise God's coming, abundance that falls down and bows to God's ONENESS. We are brotherhood and it's upon us all.

We gift love and help spread the word of the coming of the dawning, BROTHERHOOD, between ALL NATIONS. We suffer for LOVE, the only law that matters.

White Buffalo Calf Woman interprets G-d.
G-d (g utterance, ah heavenly -arriving soon-, d transmission). Jews know, heaven has yet to arrive, but prophecy helps them realize, the heaven reigns and sustains, where waves will heal all our pains.

The house of winds, where David reigns comes home to sheen upon the window panes, to envision with hope is not 'no dope' (ridiculed), but true to the dreaming (much rope, tided together, the sacred vines of the Jews), that leads and wheels, one circle that heals. Welcome to the arc/ark of the covenant, the rainbow promise, we of one land, Mother Earth stands.

hanukkah
The Prophet Daniel wrote very clearly about the rise and fall of kingdoms and their relation to Israel. He spoke of men by name, hundreds of years before their birth, before their kingdoms even existed. He also told of the events that bring us the Festival of Hanukkah (lights or rainbow colors), the "Miracle of Lights".

HELP CHABAD.ORG LIGHT UP THE WORLD!

With the end of the 2011 tax year looming while we joyously enter the Chanukah holiday, we at Chabad.org turn to you with a mixture of both pride and pleading:

Thank G-d, we have been privileged to provide a wide range of life-affirming services this year to more than 20 million(!) people across the globe.     Please G-d, in the coming year we look forward to being there more than ever before -- with an all-new Chabad.org! -- for all who need us, no matter their circumstances or station in life.

However, in order to do so, we really need your partnership! It has once again been a tough year for many of our users and this has significantly impacted our bottom line.
